England beat USA by 10 wkts

England won the toss and opt to bowl
Chris Jordan leads his team off the field. He’s no stranger to Barbados. He was born and brought up here and he’s got a hat-trick here. Incredible moment for the 35-year-old. Impressive bowling performance from England after opting to bowl. Topley removed Gous in the very first over. USA managed to score 48/2 in the powerplay but England applied the brakes post that with spin. Rashid picked two wickets with googly and Livingstone got a wicket off his final ball and the two spinners finishes with combined figures of 8-0-37-3. Harmeet Singh hit a couple of boundaries but USA collapsed dramatically, courtesy Chris Jordan! He took a superb catch to dismiss Harmeet and then picked four wickets in five balls (WOWWW) which included a hat-trick as USA slipped from 115/5 to 115/10. And, this is the equation for the defending champions- if England chase this down in 18.4 overs or fewer, they will qualify for the semi-finals.
Chris Jordan: Unbelievable feeling (to take the hattrick), was good to restrict them. Getting it (hattrick) at a special place (Barbados – his birthplace) is always nice. Glad I was able to hit on the target. Just finished it off towards the end. We summed up the conditions pretty well, we knew they will come hard at us in the powerplay, USA have been playing well in the tournament. Rashid set up the game for us. Points first and foremost.

As clinical a chase as you’ll ever see. USA have been drubbed twice in two games. But that should not take away from their impressive tournament. Today though was England all the way. Adil Rashid was fantastic in the middle overs and then Jordan took over with four in one over including a hat-trick to close out the innings in spectacular fashion. 116 was a slim target and Buttler was on fire. The highlight of his knock was his 5 sixes in an over of Harmeet including four in a row. England needed to win inside 18.4 overs to reach the semis but Buttler had other plans. He wanted to end this early and USA had no answers at all. Depending on the West Indies v South Africa game’s result, England could still top the group – that’s how impressive this win has been as they beef up their NRR by a long way.
Adil Rashid, Player of the Match: We fought pretty well, set the tone with the ball. Was pleased to restrict them (USA) to 115. Always nice to come here and bowl. It also helps when the bowlers are keeping it tight from the other end. With the wind you got to assess from which end you will bowl. Sometimes you may get hit for four and sixes. Sometimes you pick wickets. CJ (Jordan) is a match-winner, he has been doing it for a number of years. Big congrats to him. He (Buttler) is a world-class player, a great performer. Need to carry that form into the semi-final.

62 balls remaining by England is the greatest number of balls to spare in a 10-wicket win in T20 World Cups.
Aaron Jones | USA captain: Hard game to get to grips to be honest. We did not have a good last two games, something for us to talk about when we go back to USA but that’s how it goes. Looking forward to playing more big teams. Wicket was a bit sticky, Rashid very experienced, very good bowler. Our shot selection was not good, we knew he was the dangerman. Something to look into and we definitely will come back harder. [on Buttler] Very experienced and he batted beautifully today. It’s very good for us, this is our first World Cup, lot of people did not think we will be here playing against England, West Indies and the big boys. Hopefully this will open the eyes of the American public. We’ve got a lot of calls and messages of support during this World Cup. I see us getting bigger and better from here.
Jos Buttler | England captain: We give USA a lot of respect and we talked about if, if we brought our intensity, we would be too good. Once we got in a few overs, we tried to target this side with the wind. Adil was fantastic and Livi bowled brilliantly in tandem, it’s difficult when you are not bowling in one game and then suddenly you bowl 4 overs, credit to him for being ready. We have great options, today we wanted to bring in CJ to bring depth to our batting and a World Cup hat-trick is a great effort. I have been feeling good all year to be honest. I feel I’m hitting the ball well and it’s on me to look after my own game, as much as I’m the captain, I’m one of the 11 and I have got to do my job.
England become the first team to get to the semis. And no team would like to face them in the knockouts going by what we saw today. Three more spots up for grabs as far as the semis race is concerned.
